about

This release will probably never see the light of day. A lot of things came about that effectively ended the project, including [but not limited to] equipment damages & other personal things. The few tracks up here were the only completed ones. All the rest are in various states of completion [some missing vocals, guitar tracks, editing, etc.], and so I've decided to drop the pretense that I'll ever complete the record, which is too bad. "Bottomfeeder" was a kickass song, and "Minor Devils" was gorgeous. Fortunately, "Minor Devils" was re-written for my new project, Cherish, as a song called "Devour."

There is still a chance that a handful of these will be released as an electric, full-band EP. You'll be the first to know.

Track Name: No Sleep
Sunrise is an awkward thing
coming in through black curtains, of course
[Yeah] They keep the light dim,
shut it down so I can get some sleep.
My father used to say I was robbing myself
of the joys of new days.
[I] never really understood how he wasn’t
being sarcastic.

Morning never meant more to me
than another chance to fail every goal
someone set in front of me.
For 20 years I’ve pulled myself out of bed,
hoping that one day I'll be able to say,
"I made it out alive, even when I was trying my hardest not to."
"I made it out alive, even when I was trying not to."

It's been 2 weeks since I fell asleep before 10 in the morning
and I don't think that I will ever do it again
'cause I've been fucking up my own body
and who knew the words "no rest for the wicked" meant anything at all?
Track Name: The Dust from the Steps Before
Starting with the moment the clouds parted,
the sun spilled its light onto a split heel, a pair of blank eyes
and every moment became a deep pool of urgency,
the kind that no one can escape

The first thing I did was cut out a piece of my heart
to make a hole, some small hiding place
The first thing I did was cut out a piece of my heart
to make a hole, some place where I could keep you safe

One warm night, I heard you call my name
[you] said, "please, please, come find me."
Tonight, I walked our home, singing songs alone,
singing loud, "I’d try anything to find you"

The first thing I did was cut out a piece of my heart
to make a hole, some small hiding place
I could not meet a soul who’d tell me where to go
but I found that door, and I threw it wide

And down below, all the ghosts said
"Watch out for the dust from the steps before
The darkness will play tricks on you
and you must keep your faith"

I want to have faith
I want to have faith
I want to have faith
I want to have faith
Track Name: Brothers.
I am nothing at all to you.
you are a plane ticket,
you are a bus seat.

when push comes to shove,
I know where you exist.
he is a skyscraper.
I am a forest.

this is everything I don’t say
to not disappoint you.

when push comes to shove,
I know where you exist.
he is a skyscraper.
I am a forest.

[so much for brothers.]
